A thick layer of dust
Carpets the floorboards,
The curtains all stained,
The wall is bare.
It echoes the softened
Shallow whimpers,
Your cries ring out,
There’s no one there.
Shafts filter through
The cobwebbed panes.
The room scattered in
A dim yellow glow.
You flinch at the owner
Of those tiny patter-prints
A screech of laughter
It’s not real you know.
The more you believe
They are real;
These images
Of your creation;
The less likely
They are to be loyal,
To your ****** up
Imagination
