On a cross of tar

i'm paying for this life in pennies
slim thoughts of little worth
stained beyond a beauty
since my tragic birth
i make my way through alleys
shaking for a fix
i like my needles crying
as i burn upon the sticks
on a cross of tar
i stain too well to see
i chose to be the anger
now consuming me
she's trying to save me true
but i'd rather fall and fail
love has never wronged me
it just let me get too stale...
