The tune I sing softly,
I’ve never forgotten over the years
Never forgotten the four lines I know
Four lines alone,
Chorus and keystone
To my youth, my childhood
A song of mourning
In my mother’s name
I learned while young
I sung as a child
The four lines I knew
Which I never forgot
The song of truth
Triggering vivid memories
I still sing them
Though I can’t remember the rest
Of the song that I never learned
But meant so much to me.
Mother, Grandmother.
I still sing softly,
Hoping one day to hear the song again.

What a tender, magical write...
etched with memory, maturity and depth.
