Nightmares (Kingdoms Fall to Ashes)

Contributed by bobotheclown on Thursday, 2nd June 2005 @ 07:33:02 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Bleeding wrists that speak of horror
Lacerated palms pressed to eyes,
Empty eyes that speak of loss
Hug your arthritic knees,
Arthritic from begging for mercy
As these dreams chip away at your sanity

These dreams offer no respite
Disturbing images that no sadist could conjure
Writhing bodies cloaked in blood
Wrapped in concertina wire
Farces of innocence shattered by guns
Bastard child (spawned by violence)
Eyes lifted to the wounded sky
Playing amongst decayed oceans
And blackened stumps of trees
(The result of errant "gifts"
that rained from the sky)
Masks of humility cannot hide Greed
Heaps of ashes foster bitter remembrance
Of beauty we once beheld (insignificant)

Bound in chains to November's feet
Your endless tears cannot save me
They will only bring a faint smile
To salve your bruised conscience
Mouth your platitudes that define emptiness
And watch as they puddle on the floor
(Before they even reach my ears)

Waking up in a cold sweat
As these dreams visit me again
Fear ladled out in massive portions
Terror grips these rattling bones
I can't live with these dreams
Because they aren't dreams...
They are real...

No air freshener can mask the smell of fear

Yeah I think it's a good thing you kept this as one poem, it fits together
quite well. Another dark but beautiful poem in it's own way. Nice job
Joel. *yawns* Oo boy, it's time for this girl to go to bed. *hugs* I'm
glad to hear that this was idea not truth. You are in my thoughts as
always Joel, you are an amazing writer and person.

*Bows to the audience* Thank you, thank you! My idea on it staying as one... but the real genius lies within this man *points to Joel*. ;-)

My dear friend, I have read this countless times, and it STILL leaves me shuddering, speechless, and breathless.... An overwhelming icyness that dwells within the marrow of my bones... a ruthless torrent of grotesque images of death and decay... things I wish not to see... for I must endure this in my dreams as well from time to time... yet, I cannot tear my eyes away... I am bound to this, your morbidly beautiful words, till the very end... and the cycle continues, as my eyes dance along every syllable once more... You, mon cheri ami, have great talent... and it should be beheld by every soul that lives on this earth. Merci... for such a bewildering and splendiferous write... Thank you for being an inspiration to me, and to many others, no doubt. Flawless piece. All my love. Forever,

Your dear friend/avid fan,

Stephy. *Hugs*
