Hope

Comforting darkness envelops me
Though there is no peace to be found,
In my mind nor in my body,
Such malcontent; profound.

When the sun rises every morning,
and as I look up at the moon tonight,
I attempt to squelch my misery...
I try with all my might.

What is the source of this anguish?
And why does it haunt me so?
There is still so much of life to live,
To see, to feel, to know!

Yesterday has gone from me,
I didn't get to say goodbye.
I laugh because, as we all know,
It does no good to cry.

I fumble on towards a purpose,
Lead by dreams I must fufill.
Until I find my peace of mind
My heart will not be still.

It is an unstable road that I follow
But I walk with my head held high.
My hope set upon my destination,
A lonely traveler; I.

Great meaning and depth shine through this write, that can only be understood and expressed by one who has come a long way.
Life's paths are often weary and lonely, but that is often a blessing in disguise.
For, as they say, the finest steel gets sent through the hottest furnace.
This is an excellent write.
May truth and hope shine upon your journey always.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
