The Death Of Ivy

Contributed by Man_On_High on Wednesday, 1st June 2005 @ 10:13:39 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I saw the landscapes hand entwine
from wayward oak, the ivy sever..
It seemed a cruelness in mind,
yet now the oak is fresh as ever.

Now nevermore the ivy shines,
torn from it's only mortal stay.
In pieces by the road it pines
and scatters all it's blooms away.

Oh lover- Did our hearts combined
'till fate disturbed their tender ties,
yet still the ivy blooms in thine
while mine deserted, droops and dies.

A very very nice poem, loved all the words you used in it and yes I agree the end of it was the best part of it. SLipSiX.

My take on this poem is that two entities that have lived together when parted can continue to thrive, alone, on their own. The demise of a relationship is hard but we can and do live through it and if we want we can become better people for it. To each his own,I suppose,I just refuse to let anyone take my love of life from me. They might get me down for a few weeks but I am survivor and my roots will take again and thrive. Rita

This poem is amazing Billy. Each of see it differently depending on our life' s take. I enjoyed it because.
It shows we can be very close to someone actually entwined as your poem states, but then when apart, we can continue to be ourselves if only we try. I remember when my husband died, I lost my identity Billy. I'd ask "Was he the one that was so kind, or was it really me?" This write was simply great
Enjoyed reading it very much
And thanking you also Billy for all the time you take.
To comment on my poem of late.
Warm love
consue

Oh my .. how torturous and sad!!

I am ever and always so mystified by your ability to
trap an emotion through words .. you make it all look
so simple .. and yet ... there is an amazing depth here ~

powerful imagery, hun. Your work is absolutely engaging.
There is an extraordinary tender pain within the words.
Even through it's misery I am captivated.

stunning, love

all my undying devotion~
