death of a heartbeat

Contributed by all_the_dead_roses on Wednesday, 1st June 2005 @ 07:16:01 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

i feel it, with my hand upon your chest
it's the beat when love isn't at rest
i wonder, does it skip when you look at me
I'm sad, when I cry myself to sleep
i'm lonely, when it's all gone
I finished the words to the rest of our song
look at you, and see the love that use to be
but as i'm crying do you see me
All the love and memories I tried to keep
as a result, the death of a heartbeat
my soul can't live without you
my love can't spread without you
my sun can't shine without you
but I have to move on, I have to pull through
because without my heartbeat, I can't live without you
so living without you next to me
closing my eyes, not being able to see
feeling the hurt, and not being able to breathe
It's just the death of a heartbeat

This was a beautiful poem. I really enjoyed it. The last three lines were what really tied the poem together. I hope to see more of your poetry.
