Strawberry Lips

Topic: LovePoetry

Can I open you like a book
a magazine
rip the color off its page?
Can I slide slowly over your lips
with my lips;
the gradually increasing winds,
the lightning crashing hard,
the thunder and water
touching the same sound
with my fingers and your fingers
over our tired, strawberry lips.

I press you to the door
run my fingers through your side
cup your breasts
crave your sweat and salt
the ocean calling coming tears
the ocean calling empty tides
I forget that I am there.

And it is more
It is more than pressed
against your dress
more than hunger
at your open breasts
more than the sweet
caress leaning
on the store room door.

It is
the moment i see you
everyday
my life begins,
the laughter that you pull from me,
the truth that falls from my tongue
into your lap
before I even know how to say
what I am afraid to say,
the smile and penciled poetry
on my dead and dying pages
of poems long said and written and done.

It is the fact that I want to live
I want to make money
I want to be something more than I am
I want to quit smoking
I think i'll quit now
It is the fact that I love you
I love you I love you
never grows old
never grows too soft
never hurts enough to let it all go
because i would never let you go
no matter what you do
because I will forgive you for anything
for anything
for anything
forever.

My entire life is fear and pain and hurt
and playing laughter like I play
my name
And i would never change a thing.
One second One tiny moment
and I might have never met you.

I would never take anything back
not john dying on those drugs
eating himself to kill an empty
pain
not Theresa living an open lie
living on an arms worth
a penny in the jar
not the death of what i could have had
the small hands buried and gone
I would rather feel that pain
over and over and over again
than to be without you
for one tiny second
a milli second
the blink of an eye
the dust and sand of an hour
gone by

I am still afraid
I am still holding my flower
in trembling hands
hoping it grows
praying
god knows
how much
just to have each petal crisp and tender
filled with all my love and faith
all my pain and sadness
to create and make one curious
bud, one slender stem
to tack to my heart
a butterflies wings
and fly into the day
in the night
into the open light of day
and never look back.
