Tolerable Cruelty

Contributed by jyssvw22 on Friday, 27th May 2005 @ 05:15:38 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

If this touches one soul
In a galaxy of a billion stars
If this sends one emotion
On its rollercoaster ride
If your biology
And my astrological signs
Don’t coincide
If even you lived
In other space and time
Be prepared to be briefed
On the iner-workings
Of this solitary mind

Issues that complicate
Waiters who procrastinate
Perverts who peep
And masturbate
While the world
Holds the shaky hands
Of those diseased
Who ruminate
The ending
Of this ethical debate

Harm may befall you
I can foresee some
Sort of devastating
Tragedy
Which is directly
Connected, by association
Technology
And the missionaries
Who spread the lies
Of our adversaries
In complimentary tones
They insult my
Ignorance
They mock my shadow
And question my
Benevolence
My very love
My tolerance
My frustrations that
Manifest contempt
Throughout its
Duration

While in jail
The prisoner awaits
Reading the history
Of his escape
His hole dug deep
Under the bed he sleeps
Chipping away at salvation
While the guards
Pay no attention
As he proceeds

The society is shifting
The evolution of
The human brain
Has seemingly
Recently, stopped evolving
Compassion
And endless attention
Bombarded publicity
A token of my
Affection
A tolerable cruelty
If love, is your
Ultimate prediction

Okay, now that I have picked this poem apart, and see that it's very, VERY different than how I first perceived it, I'll tell you I really, really like this...and thank you....
