The Pursuit of Happiness

Jefferson never did exclaim that happiness
was a law
Instead we are still searching for this
Declaration flaw
On a hunt, a quest, for just a few smiles
To end all our sadness and ways of denial
But this washable marker of grins and
this laughter
Will soon wipe away right then if not
after
We'll find the happy place deep in our minds
And then, it'll show up, right there, on time
The joy and cheer will just all
go away
Our paints and our fears will come back
and say
"No love you shall find, no hope for your heart,
The sun will be taken so that you live in dark"
Something always goes wrong deep inside
my head
Alone and sad I will stay until I am
dead

Welcome back to the world of a poet...This wasn't too bad; a little off. Sad....I hope to read more of your works, and hopefully of happier days! Keep writing.
