Mending Broken Hearts

Contributed by hauntedscorp on Friday, 27th May 2005 @ 02:01:45 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

When one door closes, another one opens
she looked deeply into his minds eye, and gave him a token
a reprieve for love lost but not love gained
a nourishing smile given, yet his face still strained...
Lovingly she took out the key to unlock his wounded heart
his pulse was weak; looking skyward, begging to depart
she swept up broken shards and sewed up the rest
perhaps a little smaller now, but she gave it her very best
"Now c'mon, please m'dear, will you try this on for size?"
pointing out that only a small part of him met its untimely demise
Tentatively he reached out for his newly repaired heart;
with a smile and a sigh, she welcomed his brave new start
Clasping hand tightly, they walk; her leading the way
he glances back forlornly at the chunk of his heart already in decay
She didn't know how to soothe his worries, but wanted him to know;
she was there yesterday, is still today, and will be tomorrow....

This is a powerfully caring piece of work. We all hurt sometimes. Men hurt just like we do only they don't get the emotional support we usually get. How do they get through it all without it? I have always had my friends and family to bolster me. Men usually only have themselves for otherwise it is not 'manly'.

Great write.
Rita
