Fence Posts Story

Topic: StoryPoetry

Once Granny and the children
Where walking along the road
She stopped and leaned on a fence post
To lighten her load

Soon she jumped up
The children watched with surprise
As she held a conversation
With the fence post before their eyes

She first said she was sorry
For leaning with all her weight
And she never realized
How long he had been there to date

Seems the fence post was once
A might tall strong pine
Then some men came
And cut its very spine

They took it down a river
The water was oh so cold
Then to a factory
The saw there was very old

Its teeth were not sharp
And it hurt to be sawed through
Now it was in pieces
I did not know what to do

They processed it and shipped it
And the once mighty pine ended up here
Left to hold this fence up
In the cold and summer suns sear

The only treat it gets is when
Children come its way
And the fence post hears them laugh
And watches as they play

This story brought tears
To each of the children’s eyes
And they all gave the post a hug
They swore they could hear him sigh

So know that nothing is just there
All things work very hard
And of this world
We are but a shard

Oh Shari this is delicate, and so sweet, I just love your Granny stories they are all such a treat. I taught my children the very same thing. I can't even kill a fly except with a can of spray.......we are all connected with the same feelings and even if we know something is not alive.......if we treat it gentlly, we'll be treating ourselves the same way!
Wonderful dear Shari, just wonderful
Warm love
