Through The Eyes of A Child

Topic: Nostalgic

Through The Eyes of A Child

Were I to be given just one wish
For anything I may want
I would ask for a moment
To see through the eyes of a child

A moment to forget it all
And lose myself in the past
A recollection of youth
And the gifts I have squandered
I'd ask for a moment of ignorance
To forget about my pains
And be blissful in such a state
Happiness everlasting

I'd ask for a moment of naivete
The innocence of a child
Such as we forget
As we grow old, corrupt, and afraid
My gifts have been dwindled so
In a way that I cannot again
Experience the fearlessness of a babe
A moment of lost inhibition
Absolute ecstacy

If I were given just one wish
I'd ask for a moment of ignorance
A moment of innocence
A moment without guile
I'd ask for a moment
Through the eyes a of child
A moment of perfection

Hellu studmuffin! I already read this poem before, but I still think that it's a beautiful poem. The second section of the poem is so sad, and yet, it brings out the yearning and desire of the rest of the poem, especially the line 'And the gifts I have squandered' it's so deliciously self doubting that you can only hope that you recieve the second chance as suggested in the line 'I'd ask for a moment of ignorance' Very nice job. Je t'aime.

This is wonderful. I completely agree: the world of adults is too complicated and we many times forget how to experience pure, simple joy. Keep up the good work.

Beautiful and meaningful thoughts, very well-expressed...
