Rock, children.

selfstruggles

Think you know the simple girl
Who stands before you, day after day
With the exception of those when she makes up
Untrue excuses just to avoid the hassle
Of seeing dozens of people whose company
She can't even stand.
Men.
Women.
Boys.
Girls.
Couples.
Hand-in-hand, walking in beds of roses.
She tries for them,
Reaching further and further
Until she tumbles from the security of her bedroom window
And for what?
To be pricked by thorns of silver and gold
Unable to obtain perfection divine.
Do you know her?
Do you even see her?
You think you know her
Just because you know her name.
You have yet to scratch the surface,
Carve a ripple on her faded grey pond
Where ocean-dwellers thrive in plenty
And peoples in boats brave the roughest waters
Where riptides and floes abound.
Waves are curled by humidity and dormant blood - tepid and clotting.
Rock, children.
Black-eyed women wear suede suits and lie about on crushed velvet couches
In fermented grape colours, speaking of ageless ailments.
She's tired.
Exhausting all her research on unsolvable problems
Not dissimilar from mathematics.
Futile attempts at securing the fraying patchwork of acquaintances - like repairing a crack in a bucket
Filled with water; thicker than blood.
Blood means nothing now.
No longer.
She's been pricked by one too many barbs.
Calloused souls no longer strong.
Ironically thick skinned.
Yet suffering thin morale.
And she's not sorry any longer; she doesn't care that you don't know her any more.
Bet you didn't know that.

Prime Stuff. This vast ocean holds so few pearls. This is what it all comes down to - we just write it out. Kudos. J. |

A well-structured ramble, so to speak. Very emotive and lyrical. I do hope you find light and peace in life (it is to be found, but sometimes feels lost again).
Keep writing.
