Cliché
Drawn into almond eyes
Against all the loyalties I hold
Which are flimsy?
Perhaps
And then anger surges
At oneself
Why is conviction
But sheets of glass
Shatter underfoot
Punishes its own fragility
With splinters of regret
Rage
Rage
Rage
It takes not
A stretch of imagination
To make this face beautiful
Excuses abound
Temptation lures
Or does it?
Perspective
Flirt briefly with
Honesty
Empathy
No
I will not fall
And the moment is gone

Very apt title for a good strong poem. Top marks from bernard. |
