I've A Home

Contributed by wizard on Tuesday, 24th May 2005 @ 08:35:29 PM in AEST
Topic: ThankYouPoems

This abode - a story told - of many a day passed,
An empty shell - too much to tell - now I've a home at last,

I made the pledge - I swung my sledge - the first hole in the wall,
I look around - the rubbled ground - this order much too tall,

I've bid adieu - in plain view - the tools before my eyes,
Lost, not found - as I place them down - diminishing supplies,

The hours gone - the journey long - you, my helping hand,
Sweat and tears - so many years - done with a brothers band,

Many laughs - several gaffs - never once a brawl,
A twelve piece here - a phony beer - and poetry on walls,

The last obstacle to hurdle - this shell now vernal - my home now so quaint,
New walls and wood - can't believe it could - be almost ready for paint,

Selfless you've been - right till the end - it means more than you'll ever know,
I say again - to my best friend - thanks for your help bro

For Bill

Wow, that is terriffic. You couldn't ask for a better brother than that. I am sure you are both so excited it is almost finished. Congratulations on a job apparently well done.

Smiles,
Rita

What a wonderful and sweet thank you. And done so artfully, (I love
the use of your rhymes . . . quite unique-- something you always
seem to reveal a bit more each time--your uniqueness). I have
read this more than once, but every time this one phrase gets me . . .

"...and poetry on walls"

That could be taken metaphorically or quite literally, depending . . .
and I just happen to think it's a superb line, either way.
