Along A Highway

Topic: DarkPoetry

Home so far far away
I am young heart broken
Young love; Why did you leave
My love did you have to stray

For months now I have wandered
I carry all I own
Hitch-hiking cars pass me by
If only, if only I wonder

Along a highway somewhere in the middle west
Hot humid dusty
Thirsty
My life I detest

A cloud of darkness follows
Young love, young love
Always on my mind
Not worthy I feel so hollow

No longer do I care for tomorrow
A trucker passes me by
Corn fields dusty dry
So filled in sorrow

In minds mind I can't see
She was my mine and all
Beautiful
It had to be me

Miles upon mile
Traveling nowhere
Lost in myself
Seeing her smile

The whole world is black
Sad beyond sad
I'm feeling so dizzy
My eyes are rolling back

I cry for help to nobody
I thirst
Love come back
Amoung milkweed,bluebells and timithy
A butterfly lites on my warm body

I staggered and fell lying in a ditch of an unknown road
My vison is blured
I see beauty my girl

Weakened I hear cars go by
Few and sparce
I cannot even cry
I am not ready to die

Help me; help me I think
No one can hear
Pain in my heart is all I feel
This heat; surly my body will stink

Forever I'm lying here
Milkweed bluebells and timithy surround
I am hidden from the world
My body withers

My body bloats
I see, but I am dead
Maggets come crows pick out my eyes
Worms crawl in and out
Milkweed,bluebells and timithy all about

The world over no one knows my name
In this ditch I lie and rot
My spirit ever hovers above and
looks on
Autum comes winter covers then spring with its balm

I see my love in happiness
I am lost in emptiness
Forever alone
The devil taunts I live in eternal emptiness

Sinned

Dear Sinned, I hesitate to read dark poetry
It always seems to depress me.....but this poem was different, it had direction, a plot, a reason, and I could imagine it all in my mind's eye without feeling so down as you, poor soul. I've often wondered myself what it would be like to die? I really shouldn't wonder Sinned, because I have done just that a couple of times, and I didn't even know I was dying until I was told later.
I didn't see this poem as dark.....I saw it is "Life Poetry" very real, but not ideal.
Enjoyed Sinned........do it again
Warm love
consue
And thank you so much for your nice comments on my poems. I get way behind sometimes, but want you to know I appreciate

Oh Denis - yu have much more faith than expressed in this beautiful and so sad poem.
I know it.
Death is with us already at our cradle. It is only a passage and you know it full-well.
But your poetry is beautiful.
Let your light shine!
Think of St. Denis who carried his own head:)) and is the joy of the French.

A propos French,-- do you know that tomorrow is the feast of St. Joan of Arc the second Patron of France,-. I posted 2 poems on her that I would like you to view. The Maid of Orleans and St.Joan and Grandinquisitor.
Thank you for sharing this poem with us

Blessings
Elizabeth
