The Finish Line

Contributed by jaycee on Monday, 23rd May 2005 @ 09:27:44 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

With 819 points
the tape is in view
the obstacles many
the successes too few

35 poems were more
than I thought I would write
That number may not be great
but for me it's alright

took me into some lives
They were daughters and sons
and husbands and wives

The runners far ahead
have all crossed the line
if I could finish tenth
that would be fine

With new poets every day
this one won't be missed
it's not about romance
or even being kissed

It's about friends
who want you no more
who look down on you
like **** on the floor

I've run out of gas
I've got no more to say
I've fallen flat on my face
with the line far away

*runs in wailing....* Noooooooo!
You're just... in a rut. I've been there - I'm sure you'll get out of it. Stay stay stay.
Besides... I'm slowing down a bit, as are some others. So you've got plenty of time to catch up. :-)
cheers!
J.

wow . This part is sad:
It's about friends
who want you no more
who look down on you
like **** on the floor.
I understand that part myself..

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. Second guessing is something I do too well; I think my signature goes like "Again, I'm in danger of out-thinking myself." A paraphrase I um... borrowed... from the Alias TV series ;) Anyway, thanks again, and I just guess I'll have to stick around and make it back to that starting line. They say life is a journey, not a destination...
