run with my heart out on my sleeve
sweat and tears drenched i grieve
the burn runs through my throat and soul
my legs numb and arms cold
my face hot and breathing thickens
final lap, the pace quickens
so close i see her in front of me
i see the place where i want to be
i close my eyes and push on
praying my legs will stay strong
crossing the line my legs collapse
on the ground i relapse
breathing in so hard it hurts
i got only second but it feels like first

I can't imagine the sacrifice of 1500m of torture, but second is great! What a great poem and finish for you! |

Oh Angel, it is not the win, it is the fact that you ran the whole distance without stopping. You learned a wonderful lesson. You still were a winner all the way.

What to say….this is yet another awesome write by a truly talented writer. I enjoyed this piece and it had so much truth with in the pain. It had a really good and strong ending that left your heart feeling the hurt. I felt like the runner getting second and looking up seeing the first place walk away with the prize. I feel your pain keep up these good and powerful writes they are great reads and they flow so well. Take care always….Steve
