My People

Contributed by Man_On_High on Monday, 23rd May 2005 @ 05:31:09 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

My people...who are they?
I've been to church where the congregation
worships my God...
weren't they my people?
I felt no connection to them
as we knelt there,
responding in kind
to the monotone words of Father Keyes.

My people...where are they?
I've been to the land
where my ancestors were born,
where men speak my native tounge..
I was a stranger there.

"My people"...my soul cried, "who are my people?"
Last night while waiting for the bus in the rain,
I met an old man
who spoke a language I do not
and as such,
was one who does not know my God.
With an apologetic smile,
he offered me the shelter of his tattered umbrella
and as our eyes met...
I then knew.

It is the people out there, Billy, that believe in the brotherhood of man. Caring and sharing and helping each other. We do not have to share the same religion, beliefs, skin color, foods, to be alike. We just have to care and have faith in our creator that we do use the free will he gave us wisely and lovingly. These words are fantastic and touched my heart deeply.

A most discerning piece. Your deep sensitivity and
seemingly inherent "knowingness" astounds me.
Like a whisper in the dark ... "I then knew"
Nothing bonds more than when a soul is touched.
Breeding doesn't do it. Social stature doesn't do it.
And all the riches in all the world will just never do
want a kind word or gesture will ....

This was beautiful billy. I am ever moved...

Billy~
Doesn't matter what colour our skin is, what race we are from, what religion we follow, we all believe in the one God. It's the words and kind deeds from ones heart that sets an example of ample faith.
With an apologetic smile,
he offered me the shelter of his tattered umbrella
and as our eyes met...
I then knew.
A heart touching and moving piece. You brought a tear to my eyes for one simple act of kindness does wonders and restores faith in ones heart & mind.
Most impressive dearest Billy~ Not that I expected anything less from you. Well done.
love always,
sue m
