Fires of my burning past
Returning now, finally, at last
A past that I forgot to tell
A living soul who wished me well
Silence consumes in darker hours
Standing above a row of flowers
And below the beauty lies the dead
My, dog, my soul, my eternal dread
And while I mourn in hopeless prayer
I look up, hoping to see you there.
At last, I know that you are not
You are a memory that I forgot
And as misery falls upon me like rain
All I feel is insufferable pain
The darkness of the clouds surround
And all there is is darkness abound.
A forgotten memory, a separate self
Has surfaced at last, to ruin my health,
My life, my love, and my sanity’s sorrow
Bleakly hoping for a better tomorrow.
When will she surface, when will she rise?
When will I become my own demise?
What will happen? Who will I harm?
Will I hurt my friends, or slash my arm?
How can I know who I really am
I can’t, but I learn what I can.
For she is there just under the surface
Making me feel ever so worthless.
Try as I might to calm her down
My forced smile always becomes a frown
And while this nightmare I cannot see.
I know it is her, Shana’s Misery.
