What's with all the banging, Daddy?
Waking me in the night
What are those orange lights, Daddy?
Why do all these men fight?
Who are all these people, Daddy?
Dressed in clothes of green
Why are they carrying guns, Daddy?
What does all of this mean?
What are all the posters, Daddy?
Inviting people to war
Why are they dropping bombs, Daddy?
Somehow this just seems wrong
Where are all the children, Daddy?
The streets are quiet outside
Billy's playing outside, Daddy?
Why are you shouting at him to hide?
Why is Mummy crying, Daddy?
Why are her clothes stained red?
Where's my little brother, Daddy?
Is little Billy dead?
Why is Billy dead, Daddy?
Is it because of those men?
He didn't deserve to die, Daddy
A victim of war and he was only ten

thought provoking stuff. raw and insightful, simple language was really effective (obviously as a lot of the poem was from a child's point of view). good r&r.
food for thought |

War in any form or way is intolerable we should all help to stop wars by saying no. Top marks for the subject. bernard |

Wow, this has that childlike innocence and the wonder of a childs mind. I like the apparent point of view this was written from and the intelligence of the child's mind.
