Warning Shot

Contributed by jyssvw22 on Sunday, 22nd May 2005 @ 11:50:46 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

The situation is what you make of it
The reality is only the starting point
The emotions severed and the pain felt
The irrational ride to unfasten your seat belt and fly

The tree who gives us air, does not sit to think
The flower which milks the bumble-bee, thanks her with a wink
The terrains that have eroded, to give us the beach
The grass on the ground always in close reach

A warning shot goes off in the woods
Hunting season has begun in the hills
The price on my head is now ten thousand fold
A compromise I endowed, my blood was sold

In an instance the image engraved on canvas changes
In a heartbeat the worlds of two strangers collide unfelt
A token of my appreciation to those who came to befriend
A true recognition of what I am willing to lend

I really like this one. I am not sure about the third stanza, but the other three say a lot about life, and your appreciation for people. Good work. J.

Hmmm...I like this one! Very interesting...This is quite different than your usual m.o....Even the wording...the length as well. You're not usually prone to short writes, sometimes...but it's fairly rare. Anyway, for all it's differences, I still enjoyed reading it. I really like this title too : )

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
