Not sure I am ever any good!

Contributed by poet70 on Saturday, 21st May 2005 @ 10:31:27 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Here I sit, thoughts in my head.
So I write them down on paper.
Thinking I am writing a poem, of course, does this mean I really am?

I read other people’s poems
How they sound awesome, great
Mine sound nothing compared to theirs.
Making me question myself, can I do this?

Do I make sense? Am I clear?
Am I writing a poem, or just jumble?
I guess it doesn’t cause harm to try.
Practice makes a person better right?

I feel I need to keep trudging along
Trying to do the best I can, to make words into poems.
It is a dream of mine to be a poet, can the dream ever come true?

I am unsure of my talents, this I know,
Maybe if I was more positive I could do better with my words.
I just need to keep trying, keep writing, keep hoping, and keep dreaming.
Maybe one day I will make it.
Tammi Pitman

You know, of course, we are our own worst critics. I still look at some of mine and wonder why anyone bothers to read much less comment. I have been writing now about 3 years. If you love, keep writing. As with everything, as you said, practice makes perfect. Well, none of us are ever perfect, but we do get better, and I see talent in you. Don't give up and don't be so hard on yourself.

Peace,

I see nothing wrong with your writing. it's a talent on loan from God.
Jus pick up the pen and empty out.
Great job with this write and keep the faith.
U r willing and that's half the battle. i find that the more other folks poems I read the more I'm inspired and i learn from all fine authors here.
huggs,
emy
there's plenty to write about for sure.

A very good write of self struggle with your writes and God knows I’ve struggled the same way. You’re a poet now whether you know it or not. Being a poet isn’t about whether your good or bad its about writing your emotions and what’s in your heart. This write was good because it’s the truth and people know it. Take care and event though life is busy here in Iraq I’ll try and read your writes when I see them….Steve
