No Way Back

Contributed by MoonlitAngel on Tuesday, 31st December 2002 @ 01:30:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

You're the most amazing thing
To walk in out of nowhere
In days and weeks and months
But I never dreamed of this
I planned to take my sweet time
Before falling again

There are things I need to tell you
About why I decided to keep to myself
I walked away when things got rough
Let's just say I couldn't keep my hands to myself

I don't think I have it in me
To be the person I've always wished I could be
And I don't want to let you down
'Cause I mean it when I say you're really something

There's nothing lacking in the air
Around us, it's alive with something I can't name
But I just cannot trust myself
Could you help me be that person I want to be?

You're so different, and that's what
Makes you special, that's what makes
You who you are, just you
But I'm no angel sent from
Above, the place that's in you
I'm great at just one thing

I take the hearts that care for me
That would give me everything I've ever wanted
And I break them into pieces
Basically I hurt everyone I care about

I'd think twice before trusting me
With your tender heart and your so beautiful soul
We just met, but there's something so
Strangely, wonderfully unbelievable between us

It's only been about a week
Since I said goodbye to the boy who loved me deep
And I wonder what he would think
Of the thoughts that I'm thinking about you so soon

But what can I do when your
Lips are so divinely soft
And you touch me like that
Out of your mouth come those words
Suddenly I'm so far gone
That there's just no way back
