While you were sleeping,
I thought I heard
a chorus of dreams in your head.

Turns out that my song
of wondrous dreams
was ringing its way to your bed.

It stopped at the foot,
but feet can't listen.
Never went through to your soul.

The fire I held
that burned for you
was smothered by your coal.
