The lights glaring,
Roses pooled at your feet,
Glancing around for a moment
At the faces in every seat.
Breathing subdued,
Calmly stepping off stage,
Gathering memoirs,
Watching the lights as they fade.
Becoming child-like
With joy in your step,
Smiling as soft memories
Are swept
Aside,
Walking backstage for a moment in time,
Hearing the applause that’s gathering
And the line
Of people waiting
For the curtain call,
Because, Ryan, you always do dance perfectly
After all.
