Duskworld - Chronicles (part 1)

"I will feed
You will bleed"
That has been my motto for a thousand years;
Living off your bloodied tears.

I live in Duskworld, out of sight
Thriving in the blackest night.
I move silent as a grave, I move sleek,
Willing... unwilling... you are the victim I seek.

I watch the world move, how I laugh at you
Ignorant and unaware as I stare at targets joining the queue.
I drink in the sight, revel in the fright
Feel the fear as you comprehend my might.

I am the one you see from the corner of your eye
The one in black with the crooked smile that makes you sigh.
The world moves blissful, unaware of me
I am vampire yet human, I am lost but free.

Each act of survival to me is an act of lust
No casual kiss but a betrayal of trust.
Sinking my teeth slowly I feel the metallic flood
Gaining strength I feel your loss but I taste your blood.

Sometimes I remember when I was young
Before I became doomed and overcome
But that is a mere moment of slight relief
I am dominated by my passion and my greedy teeth.

One day my end will come, but today is not the day
I remain unblemished and preserved in every way.
Perhaps one day my decadence will be made untrue
Or perhaps one day my victim may be you
