THE END OF IT ALL

Growing colder with every breath I take,
feeling the numbness taking over;
Growing older with each passing day,
fading faster while getting colder;
No more, this torment that lies in me,
no longer pleaing to bring end this pain;
Etheral souls challenging to set me free,
granting rewards, offering to draw near my day;
Shadows gather watching over my soul,
chanting rites, beckoning my release;
Calling on my essence to return to the old,
promising solace in return for my release;
Fading images sweeping through my mind,
clouding reality, twisting my thoughts;
Leading my spirit into madness defined,
tempting my very being with all I sought;
A dream to a wish to bring end to this life,
a wish no more that ruled everyday;
Only reality's guidence through the lies,
soothing the fears that hear not this prayer;
And at last the end has become so clear,
the truth opened up in moments past;
Relaxed I obey to the shadows fear,
taking that last breath I sigh at last.
