My Last Fall

Contributed by Pyrofungus on Friday, 20th May 2005 @ 05:39:17 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I watched myself slowly crumble to pieces
As I approached another fall.
I believed in the words “Everything happens for a Reason”
But these reasons always involved my choices,
Stubborn ones indeed.
I based my choices on what I thought was right
What I felt was right
Yet knew was wrong.
I took advantage of the luck I’d receive for such a short time
Then I’d see the edge,
I’d walk right up to it and look down
I’d see every crack in the fault line
And do nothing about it.

Jump, that’s all I could do.
I wanted what I wanted
What I felt would make me happy.
But was too stubborn to disagree,
Even with myself.
I cared about the consequences
But if I really wanted something I’d go for.
What I went after were always the wrong things.
They were the very things that allowed me to fall.

Every word that glided out of my mouth
And landed in someone’s ear,
Every mistake that I made,
Every wrong turn going up this steep cycle of cliffs
Every everything that I did,
I did it…
I did it all…
I did it all to myself…
I caused so much misery to myself
By being so stubborn.
I handed over misery to so many others,
It was my gift to them.
They accepted,
And cried
We would cry together
Upon my precious golden cliff
Where I had taken my last fall
And where I had finally taken my final jump.
