In this town, there's an abandoned street
where rats run loose,
and the stench is far from sweet
Long ago was forgotten,
the story of this road
until the day they found the book
and all hearts overflowed
A young girl took a look inside
and made a gasp at what she found
it was the name of four boys who died
in a journal, leather-bound
This is how the story goes,
why it was abandoned, nobody knows
it's a tale straight from the heart
so listen closely, don't depart.
"Today is the date May thirteen,
and I tell you a more beautiful night has never been seen
there's torrents of rain
and in minutes all of us will be slain.
It's Bryant, Lucas, Steven, and I
and each of us has a tear in his eye.
Yet there is only little fear,
for we feel comfort in the fact that death is near.
My dear Steven now is holding my hand
as he listens to sweet Bryant's command.
It will go Lucas, Steven, Bryant, then I,
I'm now fighting my tears, begging not to cry
We bid farewell to Lucas, one final time,
as the sky pours its tears, overflowing the sewers, and bathing us in grime
we tell him we love him,
and that our time apart will not be long
Lucas, smiles and nods, his sweet voice uttering its last song.
Alas, his sword is uncovered,
ripped from its sheath,
and his head is separated,
circled in a bloody wreath.
Steven cries out, and I kiss his forehead,
reminding him that we'll be better off dead.
Steven draws from his cloak a lone pill,
so he can die quietly, without feeling ill.
he presses it to his tounge
as he whimpers, I tell him that the journey's begun
My dear Steven always wanted to die with a smile,
so as the poison runs its course, it stretches a mile.
Finally, the writhing stops,
and his calm face is bombarded with raindrops.
I raise his hand to press my lips unto it
I softly drop it, he can't feel one bit.
Suddenly Bryant gasps and falls to sobbing,
I try to soothe him, but my voice is bobbing.
I envelope him in my grasp,
I try not to tear up,
but voice begins to rasp.
'Bryant,' I say, 'Steven awaits.
he is up there, standing at Heaven's gates.
There Lucas stands with him too,
and they're already missing you.'
He pulls out a knife,
and without a moan
he thrusts it into himself
and I am alone.
With one look at my lifeless companion,
I hear him beckon,
and I agree that the deed must be done.
But I'll write these last lines,
the only account of my own
and I'll tell of the only feelings I've ever known.
Love for my fellows, Bryant, Lucas, and Steve
they were so kind, I know millions will grieve.
Heartbreak for my cause of death
I hope she knows I'll have no more breath
for she tore so I'm nothing but a shred
maybe she'll care,
once I'm dead.
But family isn't part of the frame
I don't think I'd be here tonight,
if I had a family name.
Orphans were the four of us,
and we were the only ones for eachother to trust
So in this book I leave pieces of my heart,
for you to savor when I depart
and that's all that I, Jacob,
has to say,
for I can leave this earth today.
With this knife, I cut out the throbbing center of my soul,
and here it lays in this book
for I have reached my goal."
The girl turned the last page,
and the town watched as though she was center stage.
In a little compartment behind the last leaf
was a shriveled heart in a bloody wreath.
This is the tale, long since hidden
of four boys whom, with grief were ridden
all of which were in their nineteenth year,
and ended it with eachother, the only people they held dear.
This is the story of Nightmare Road
where their souls will always continue to erode
some say that's where their ghosts await,
but I know for a fact that they've reached Heaven's gate.

A very sad story, but well written. If only they could've found another way instead of death, anyway keep up the good work!
