The wine bottle rocks back and forth on the edge of the table
To and fro like
Please don’t spill
I’m drunk and broke and you’re all that I have left
You’re all that matters in the whole world right now
You’re all that I have, for real even
She took my money and my cat and my records
And she broke all you’re brothers and you’re sisters in the street below
She screamed that all I care about is you
We’ll that’s she has left me with
So what does she expect
When I crawl into bed with you on my breath
And your stain on my lips
It’s what she wanted
Isn’t it?
She took everything else
My freedom, my hope, my joy
My sanctity and my sanctuary
She took my damn cat and broke my wine
You are the one last bottle
She must have missed you
In her stubborn fury
So please don’t fall
Theirs no one to clean the carpet
She broke my music
And said that she wanted to get married
She said that she can’t stand it
So she broke all that I cared for
Because I didn’t care for her
And now they rot in the alley below
In the dark with the trash and the hobos
I wonder if any of your brothers
And your sisters made it through the fall
I wonder if the glass remained intact
I’m half tempted to crawl out of this bed
It was her bed too
Just to take a peak
But I know that they are all done
Glass broken like the skin
Of car accident victims
Wine like the innards of the organs
Wasted on the warm concrete
Lapped up by alley cats
One of which may be mine
And I know that she’s really gone
