Finding Myself

Contributed by janie on Thursday, 19th May 2005 @ 06:01:58 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Some say the teenage years are meant for one thing
To figure out who you are
And I certainly agree
I might have changed inside
And I might continue changing
To become the person who I will one day be
I can't imagine who I will be
I will likely lie far from perfection
But one day that imperfection will come to my advantage
I might rebel
But in the long run I'll benefit
I may do things that I know are unjust and immoral
But the hot water that I fall into will teach me what cannot be taught the easy way
I'm just a little bit lost
And for now I'm finding myself
When I do I can lie back
And recall tales of times
Times when I was struggling to come out of the adolescence maze
For the time being I need help
I need support
Or else I will sway from my mark
And be farther away from finding myself than I am at the moment
I'm finding myself in the jungle of life

Good and interesting write.
Your feelings strongly come through---let me be
don't lecture
be there for me
let me grow.

I am an older man and I think we spend our lives searching for ourselves. I enjoyed your poem.

You are my new hero. Lol. This just summed up most of my writing.. About finding myself during my teen years and needing help doing so in the long run. This was a very good write. Please keep it up!
