When a loved one dies
Who will hear my cries?
All the people are rushing
And the old woman's hushing
"Shh, you'll wake the poor dear..."
The kisses and hugs
From family and friends
Will these monotonous affections never end?
And there's the crying and bugging
"Are you sure you're all right dear?" they inquire
No! I'm not okay
I need peace and quiet
Won't you ever go away?
I'm enduring a pain like 1,000 sharp knives
While looking back on my past relatives life
It's so hard to focus
Everything is unclear
The memories are fuzzy
But I can still hear
The sounds from the past when everything was all right
Like the laughs and the giggles
From sweet times, long ago
For now that you've left this is what we have to show
There were picnics, and parties, with family all there
When our love had one more person in it to share
I feel so much better
As the warm memories work
For at once they cease my fears
They calm my beating heart
And finally release my fears
