The Ghost

Topic: LostLove

I still know you on the most
Primitive of levels,
On the holiest of connections
That no matter what I try
Can not be severed.
I’ve tried forgetting you and moving on
But then in the deepest regions of my heart
I hear your voice
And I quake deep down inside.
My body betraying me, still begging for your touch,
For one caress of your hand,
For skin on top of skin.
The way it used to be.
On nights like this I see your face in my memories,
And my heart aching, silently begs
Just for you to hold me,
Begs for just one more night
Of not having to be lonely or heart broken.
And I gaze into some distant memory
As I drift off to sleep, alone,
For one more night.
Your face, your voice,
Just whispers on a shadow in the wind,
Only my heart begging for you once again.
Begging for you to be reality
Instead of a ghost.
My heart just needing an “I love you,”
From your lips,
Just one more touch.
And as I cry I fall into dreamless slumber,
Still aching for your heartbeat next to mine.
