Nature vs Nurture; Only the Ghost can know

Contributed by jyssvw22 on Wednesday, 18th May 2005 @ 05:07:46 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Whishing to go back in time
A time traveler I desire
Taking back the slurred words
Doing it over again
This time with more feelings and nerves

It’s too late now
My moment in the sun has faded
The camera is off my face
And I sit and write jaded
I held back
When I could have unleashed my havoc
I decided to retract
The initial thought that made magic

They all stood around
Watching my every move
The interviewer wore a gown
A white sheet with two holes
He was a ghost with a microphone
He said he had been abused
He asked why I hated him too
I stood there in shock
As they all awaited my response

Had I known I would have prepared
I was just walking along
I was off to cut my hair
Right on my street
The crew of them set up shop
They had a difficult feat
The typical NYC block

There was a deeper message
In what the ghost had to say
He was acting all aloof
Like he was rehearsing a play
Yet, I sit here his proof
That his words stung my day
A wavier of consent
To air my stupidity to the world
Let me now repent
For when you see the advice I gave
It ain’t worth one damn cent

I wish I could go back in time
So I can change these misfortunes
I wish I had been on cue
When the world waited with caution
My words could have moved
The slightest of docile minds
My idea could have sparked the illusion
That we are all one
Just one of a kind

Instead I pray
You find that out for yourself
When you find your way
And achieve you goals
The penalty for success
Is constantly prepared to unfold
While the simple reality tests
Which way the child grows
Nature verse Nurture
Only the ghost can know

lol I've had a couple regrettable moments with a news crew in the past...I wonder what they asked you? This was a really good write. I like the way you relayed this, and the ending is the best.
