I stand here smiling
Thinking of the past
Everything was perfect
Like a scene from a dream
I look at you
And I know it pains you
to do this to me
But I know
...its not me, its you...
Isn't that what they all say
As my tears fall to the ground
I say
I don't want you to worry about me
I tried to be the best
And you know I was the best
But it's just not working out...
...isn't that right?
Don't worry about me...
...I'll be fine...
...someday...

Yeah, like the old song says "breaking up is hard to do"... we all give excuses
and lies to appease the other person and to keep face and dignity before them,
then silently and alone we release our emotions. Keep your head up.
Nice write,

YOUR dump was rough, and your poem really goes a long way to expressing the pain in a partner who realizes that the relationship is over, but it the weight falls on you to be the one to break what was once a sweet cane of candy. The power of your struggle to ease it for your ex-partner really shows how self grating it is, but your last line... you expose your vulnerability. I'm not negative, I just like this poem the best. So far! |
