Farce

Contributed by bobotheclown on Tuesday, 17th May 2005 @ 01:01:06 AM in AEST
Topic: drugabuse

Laughing (so empty) at the debauchery
Before your glazed, empty eyes
Lean forward, lips moving
As I take part in the sickness
Every drug you desire
Is here for the taking

So angry at myself
For not stopping this insanity
Doing nothing for the girl weeping
And the guy od'ing
And making out with girl
With the alcohol on her breath (using her)

Revel in this sad farce
Trying to escape for a few hours
To quell the hurt deep inside
I've been there and its no different
For those a few years down the road
When will we learn from our mistakes?

Taking this all in
Doing nothing to stop it
I'm just as sick as them
And now my heart is
Burdened with shame
Hypocrisy stains my lips

Mock the kid gazing emptily into space
Make out with the drunk girls
I'm really no different than you
And you will always be in my heart

I doubt there was anything you could have done... but I understand the feeling, the frustration, the 'should be able to do SOMETHING'. A terrible thing, seeing people ruin themselves. All to escape from growth, for pain is growth when faced correctly. A grievous thing.

Well written.

Ohh Joel this was such a sad write. I try to judge people when they do drugs since it's not my place too.

Byt this was thought provoking that kids do this at parties or at schools eve.

A well pointed issue Joel.

This is sad, seeing all this would probably break my heart. I applaud you
for writing about it. Nice poem once again. (for the 3rd time tonight even!
It was about time I got caught up with your writing!)

Great poem! I loved this line:
Hypocrisy stains my lips
I love it! Simply great. A good write and yeah, sometimes we all become what we do not like. At least you are smart enough to see it. Nice poem, dark, but so true.

It makes me cry when I see people so young wasting their life away like that.

Awesome write as always, Joel.
