Rest home Blues

Contributed by spsm on Monday, 16th May 2005 @ 07:53:55 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Our skin is wrinkled, our hair is grey, it seems we’ve past our useful days.
Can’t you see our hearts are full of love we’d like to share? Our eyes are filled with longing….Please tell us that you care.
We may be old with crooked frames, our eyes may not be good.
But we still need to be useful… Let us show you that we could.

I care for my 80 y/o mother and promised her she would never go to a home unless it got to where I absolutely could not take care of her at home with nursing help 24/7. I do know sometimes it is necessary, but it will be my very last resort. There is so much to be learned from those that can still socialize. You can IM me anytime you like and I will be delighted to chat with you.

((((hugs))))
Rita

Yea, is a shame to be put away and forgotten when you have so much to share with others.
The thing is they are still useful and very wise, we can learn from them. Great poem.
