enough to shatter this spell
ring of sacred salt, scattered
ground into slit skin
breathing through the wound
cry of desolation pours past painted lips
lungs filled with fire
consume
set light to your indignant soul
buried in the ash
I pick at crimson nail polish
and scrub at safe-keeping runes
that even I have come to doubt
in the lucidity of day
