Here I walk along the paths of lost and lonely wandering souls
Struggling though the foggy bottoms where the heartaches take their tolls
Searching ever for direction, crying out in desperate need
Heed my heart that longs for love and watch my tattered spirit bleed
Far away in distance shining stands the light, a beacon glows
Waiting patiently for me , a man who only sorrow knows
There she holds a rose he gave so long ago in times of past
Though it withers, fades with age, the memories forever last
Guide me now and lead me homeward, take me by my trembling hands
To the fields and hills remembered, to the calm familiar lands
Where I once was called a King, where I once had a love so true
Set my feet and give me strength upon the pathway back to you

beautifully written.... how deep the feelings run no matter how much time passes there is that place that once was and we keep going back trying to find it, even when we know it no longer exists. Ok so that is where this write took me and I can see some others here were deeply moved by your skillful writing as well....
