Victim of Hypocrisy

Contributed by blue_angel on Friday, 13th May 2005 @ 12:36:02 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

is there so much
that we do not see
in the eyes of another
do you all judge me
i feel so accused
of things so untrue
on me lay this burden
set on me by you
feelings unjustified
i cannot explain
this encumber of guilt
this package of pain
unwilling to die
but impossible to live
can i be myself
you will not forgive
fatality unfounded
this hole in my womb
vicitim of hypocrisy
imprisoned in my soul

I think visually this poem is very good, I can see the finger pointing at you, accusing and harassing you. Lines like "encumber of guilt" and "package of pain" are vivid and convey the power of your suffering.

I am not quite sure what happened, though, as "Is this happiness" was such a sweet culmination of toil and tears and your so long overdue happiness. Are you feeling guilty about being happy? That's the only thing I can think of... but you deserve happiness. So much! It is not hypocritical to embrace the good in your life. Maybe I'm misreading, I don't know. I hope this poem was just an adjustment to your new found pleasure in life. Do not punish yourself for the crime of others and do not deny yourself the pleasures you richly deserve.

I read "Victim of Hypocrisy" again and wondering that... are you thinking you should be sad? Or is it that you feel that many are not true in their intentions and emotions where your happiness is concerned? Who or what is tormenting you? Can I help?

You present the question "can i be myself." This question has an easy answer-please do-because otherwise you are not you. Whatever your situation may be most likely you can be yourself even if that means the "you" in your poem will not forgive.

Wow great write and I’m glad I took the time to read your work. there is so much pain and sorrow packed into these few words. You have done a great job at writing these strong emotions. My thoughts are with you and I thank you for sharing this sad but very well written poem. Take care and I’m always here….Steve

Nicely chosen words. And hypocrisy is definitely something that is a force to deal with.
