how do you guage lonliness?

Contributed by emokid on Thursday, 12th May 2005 @ 10:08:48 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

How do gauge lonliness?
By how many empty bottlesare on my counter
By how many sleepless nights spent
By how hollow I feel sitting across a beautiful girl
Or perhaps lonliness is gauged by the losses we've had
I lost many women.
My fiance my mother
I lost my father to emotions muted by pain
or maybe just maybe
It is not gauged at all
I've got something for every nothing
It could be a trade
It could be of our own making
Lonliness is but an illness that comes and goes
How long it stays is just
How long we allow it
