i'm an old tree, the bark skin of me
i'm grown but soon follow the flames...
i'm above no one's love, no flight for the dove
i own these deep hollowing stains...
burn me all black, to hell i go back
to see all my sins in my face...
i shake under storms, so cold with no arms
my love is now gone to disgrace
i tried to keep dry, this girl in my eye
but my leaves are gone to the ground...
she shivers near me, i'm dark so fear me
to another i'll never be found...
tomorrow i feed, on sunshine i need
my leaves might grow to a green
my branches will breathe, birds would not leave
then i could believe in the love again...
