TEENAGE LOVE IS CONTAGIOUS

Love starts off as a wink of the eye, a rosy blush, a first kiss, a first time, holding hands, warm bear hugs, sharing secrets, making promises, multiple dates, maturity, security, passionate intimacy, 24-hour phone conversations, meeting parents, hidden hickeys, spending your allowance on gifts for each other, not caring that others think you’re to young to be in love, it’s just you and your lover against the world. Which all represents a beautiful flower and each petal expresses how much you love each other.
Until….the promises become fragile, secrets are kept, hugs are no longer warm, but cold, jealousy becomes too aggressive, passionate intimacy is far from passionate, not even close to intimacy, the gifts stop coming, and the hickeys are now placed on someone else’s neck, because you’re never completely satisfied, and your eyes were too blinded by infatuation. So eventually the petals that once represented a pretty pink flower, is now a rusty brown. It loss it’s shine, moisture, and dies from the lack of love and sunlight, which is now stuffed in between the sheets of your diary, and deep inside you unspoken, broken heart…..it’s now you and lover against each other.
