At My Door

There was a knock at the door
And I saw her standing there
I'd heard it all before
And now learned not to give a care.
But as I stared at her face
She smiled at me
The past that I can't erase
Came back and wouldn't let me be.
She used to be my friend
I thought she was true
But a hand she wouldn't lend
When I was feeling blue.
She used me at any cost
It was only me that gave
Our friendship was lost
It was never really there to save.
I smiled at her
And slowly closed the door
Could never go back to how we were
And what she did still hurts me to my core.

I myself have had way to many friends that have hurt me deeply in a way that it actually caused me not to ever become close to people anymore, and i wont allow myself to get into the depth of being close with people anymore to where i will get hurt badly. Normally i run and i dont even tell them bye half the time, but i do it before the friendship becomes to deep because that's what all the stabbing in the back that my friends done to me caused me to be like. I cannot blame them for my actions though , but i am a less trusting person because of it.....that's what this poem brought to me....im sorry to take up so much of your comment space i didnt mean to...i enjoyed your poem it's very painful to read the way you wrote it all out here....it brought back so many memories with me...thank you for sharing your captivating poetry my friend...

OH!!! Now that I have read this poem, I believe this is the one you referred to when you commented on mine, and not your other one regarding suicide. This one I can definitely relate to! Oh how I wish I had your strength, as unfortunately I was unable to close the door (or at least not yet) ... I am still building my wall slowly - one brick at a time.
This is a great poem - I'm glad I had the chance to read your words - it may just spur me on :)))

I like the lines:
"Our friendship was lost
It was never really there to save. "
The lines that always get your attention are the ones that have blatant meaning... that are honest beyond simply facts. |
