Indulge

Indulge…

Bittersweet expressions of chocolaty poetry,
Vanilla breezes, cool smiles of the moon,
Caress the corners of your mind,
Decipher an ancient code of deception,
Look at old photographs of Melancholy,
While listening to the gentle melody of rain,
Tip-tap, tip-tap, tip-tapping above your restless form...

Brush your fingertips against the belly of a sleeping dragon,
Gaze in wonderment at the ominous smoke,
Gradually consuming you; fogs of depression…
Inhale deeply of this intoxicating incense,
Dragon’s breath, a hint of early ginger, sprinkles of juniper…

Garden of dreams, desirable illusions,
Dancing faeries, casting spells of eternal bliss,
Butterflies kissing your nose, tender caresses of timid dandelions,
Satiate your hunger for fantasy,
Delve into the endless pits of your Imagination,
You’ll find me slumbering under a willow tree…

Shy fingers kiss ivory, respectful, slow at first,
Hesitant notes, graceless coughs from my dusty piano,
Rustic cries from my old tricycle,
And the child within pouts with disappointment…

Empty womb, lonely youth,
Forgotten near the monkey bars,
Momma said she’d be back soon,
It’s been 100 years now,
No sign of sympathy, nobody knew,
Nobody cared…

Decrepit, hunch-backed, beautiful,
Blue snakes dividing, multiplying, spreading through her toothpick legs,
Baby steps, minute by second, 2 plus 2 is 5,
All is hushed in her playground,
Lying under the mountain slide,
Waiting for something that will only come in her dreams…
Blind eyes that have seen all, close one last time,
Eternal sleep, sigh of release,

Goodbye, Miss Susie…

Taste the cotton-candy clouds as you fly by,
Wave to the mortals below you,
As they look high above them,
See you sitting at the edge of a marshmallow vapor,
Blink of an eye,
You’re gone…

Kiss your lover, embrace the child within,
Love that person in the mirror,
Whisper a sweet Hello to the morning sun,
Welcome the day’s obstacles with a strong smile…
Gratify your senses, satisfy your mind,
With a steaming cup,
Of poet’s ramblings…

superb write.... first i like the use of bold letters, then italic then bold again, then normal, so on... it makes reading it a lot easier on the eyes when each stanza looks different than the last... and you have a great use of describing things without ODing on adjectives (speshly in Stanza #2) some lines are all adjectives which is OK because you use very descriptive adjectives not something like 'sorta greenish' or whatever... anywho, keep up the good work

Beautiful Steph the imagery in this really
captivated me and the second stanza with the
dragon wow kind of reminded me of when I
was having a bipolar "attack". A beautiful write
Steph... I need to sit down for a few hours and
write out everything that is on my mind.

Nothing short of absolute magic.
You have captured a sense of
wonderful fantasy. Such sadness
in this world and yet our minds
can create such wonder. I hope
with all my heart that there is a
place like this awaiting us when
we do take that " eternal sleep ".
Simply brilliant , Truly , Doug
