The tip top of trees
Where the sun beams
Hits the shadow just right
The roofs of buildings tower below
The very highest leaf
The greenness it is granted
A blackbird chirps its sadness
At the tip top of the trees
The branches stretch in agony
Further away from the ground
A twig hangs on loosely
The tip top of trees denies it profusely
A guard rail protects the view
The nailed window obscures
The tip top of trees hides
A masquerade of costumes inside
At the base of the beast
A beaver digs its retreat
Burrowing in the mountainous bark
The foundation to the bedrock
The tip top of trees
Come crumbling downward
No longer perched in the sky
The tip tops of trees turn brown and die
