Terror Inside

Contributed by Silent-No-More on Sunday, 8th May 2005 @ 10:16:41 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I didn't realize it
until it was far too late.

Now, it seems so horribly obvious.
Terror... must be invisible.

How else would it gain entry?

Who would open the door to it
Unless they didn't know they were doing so?

Invisible, yes.

Until...
It grew tired of living inside
The seemingly secure walls that keep you
And the world
Apart.

Until...
It and you, intending or ignorant,
Stumble head long into each other
And collapse
Into one.

Until...
It grips you, wrapping its hands
Around your disbelieving throat until
You cannot
Breathe.

Yes, terror must be invisible.

Until... the moment
It chooses to show itself
A blood red beast
That looks far too much like a
grotesquely disfigured - you
As it stands there, laughing
At what was once you

And you
Remember...

That one day when a cold draft
Brushed across your knees
As you held the door open
For some salesman
That wouldn't go away

And you realize - far too late
That must have been when

You...

Let it in.

This was clearly emotive and sad at the same time. We sometimes harbor feelings we wish we couldn't feel and yet they somehow manage to creep back at us.

Nicely written Snemmita.

Hugs,
Jane xxx

the depths of what this poem is saying, and
says it very effectivly i might add, well written
posesses an inner strenght 2 it . . .

errrrrrrrr you sure this is a poem???seems more like your thoughts have been tied together loosely.though beautifuly put but really puts strain on the head as it is quite confusing so thats what robs it of the unimaginable terror it can unleash.i read all the comments everybody seems to love it bring it out more clearly and trust me you'll blow the minds of all the readers.KEEP WORKING

This is truly brilliant expression, my friend. Well done! Your words are captivating, and terribly true at the same time.

Most definitely a five-star work.

Absolutely gripping - and the realisation at the end chilled me to the bone! Another simply rendered, potent entry to your burgeoning folio.

My favourite lines
Terror… must be invisible.
How else would it gain entry?

always a pleasure,

Spike

wow, is the only thing that comes to mind when I read this. It has truth in it that is rarly captured by artist today, Bravo. You showd us what its like to be the one over taken by terror. And terror is invisible untell it has you where it wants you then... it is the most horrifying thing that could ever be. Truly a poem worthy of note. Do keep up thew good work and I too hope that you will over come you troubles and pain that are in your life. I will pray for you. Be well

Wow, am I glad I read this. I can't presume to understand it in the way
you do, but perhaps that's the wonder of poetry, interpretation. This was
gorgeous and thoughtful and really makes one think. It seemed random,
but was truly tied together. The simplicity of the ending really brought it
home to me. That was what made it rock I think. Sweet work!

Whatever it was that inspired this poem, you need not explain. However, I am truly sorry for whatever pain you may have been going through at the time.

But inspiration did indeed cause you to write a remarkable and riveting poem to say the least.

I honestly believe that you could write anything about any subject and make it exciting and a thrill to read.

This was dark and descriptive. It had me pinned to the monitor. What an interesting perspective on an individual's own terrifying thoughts and problems.

Once again...

*applauds your talent*

*hugs all big and bear like just in case you needed it or need it*

Tim
