This phone won’t stop ringing
I’m gonna toss it at this white wall
I’m gonna rip that black plug out
I’m gonna chew the wires off with my teeth
The mail won’t stop coming
Everyday the mailman brings more
Bills and offers, turns out I’m rich
If only I subscribe to their culture of myths
The dog won’t stop barking
It drives me insane all night
Its owners are loony swingers
They rock and roll get drunk and fight
The television won’t shut off
The scrambled soft porn blares
Static music rumbles
A wood bat through the screen is next
The rain won’t stop falling
A drought will never again be seen
The trees won’t protect the birds
It won’t part with its precious leaves
The water won’t stop dripping
As I try and fall asleep
Memories of kissing my love
In this dark night city heat

| Great write... best sleepless night poem i've read.... I can totally relate to the barking dogs part... I like all the disturbances in the stanzas and at the end theres something good that makes it sound like they fell asleep.... |
